In 2026, TMV projects need to distinguish EN 1111:2026, EN 1287:2026 and NHS D08. They address different operating conditions and acceptance priorities.

EN 1111:2026

The 2026 edition supersedes EN 1111:2017. Public change summaries identify new or clarified provisions for backflow protection, test sequence and behaviour/function, plus updated mechanical requirements and new annexes. A test bench should retain inlet conditions, temperature transients and recovery behaviour.

EN 1287:2026

The 2026 edition supersedes EN 1287:2017 for low-pressure TMVs. Clause 13 is clarified with new figures and the operating-condition table must be implemented in the recipe. Low-pressure stability, temperature steps, flow and measurement uncertainty should be controlled together.

NHS D08

D08 is a healthcare performance specification rather than a replacement for the EN standards. It covers leak tightness, cross-flow, thermal safety, cold-water failure and recovery, durability and commissioning/in-service records.

Equipment implications

A complete system needs independent hot and cold circuits, synchronized temperature/pressure/flow acquisition, fault injection, endurance cycling, safety interlocks and traceable reports. The adopted edition and project limits must be stated in the technical agreement. For inlet conditions, outlet response and acceptance records of thermostatic mixing valves, see thermostatic mixing valve testing; for temperature curve and flow-characteristic acceptance of thermostatic radiator valves, see thermostatic radiator valve test bench.
